Recently I had the honor interviewing singer and songwriter Sophie Michelle again. Continue to read on and learn more about her new song, her advice to people who are being bullied, and how she would like to work with.
Relate: What have you been up to since we last talked?
Sophie: Just keeping on staying safe and doing my part with social distancing while I continue to songwriter, play guitar and focus on music! I’ve taken this time to stay productive!
R: Tell us about your newest single, “Still Me”. How did you come up with the idea for this song?
S: My new song “Still me” is about how throughout so many different chapters of my life, I’m still the same person I was when I was getting bullied in middle school. Even though what you see on social media seems like I have everything figured out, I don’t. At the end of the day I’m just a 15 year old girl trying to spread a positive message and inspire others to tackle their dreams no matter how big they are.
R: What is your writing process like?
S: I usually get really inspired to songwriter at night! I’ve realized that is when I’m the most creative! First, I write about what I’m going to write about in my journal to get everything off my mind. Then I’ll take all of those things that I wrote and start working them into a song!
R: Where can people listen to or get this song?
S: You can jam out to my new single “Still me” on Spotify, iTunes and SoundCloud now!
R: Do you have any other projects you would like to talk about?
S: Outside of this single, I’m also working on a ton of different projects. I have a lot of really cool videos planned for my Youtube Channel and I’m in the process of releasing some new merch! I also have some more upcoming stuff in the works that I can’t spill about yet, but, I’m so stoked! Yay!
R: Who are five people that you would like to work with?
S: I would love to work with Troye Sivan, David Dobrik, Zendaya *of course*, Conan Gray and Harry Styles. They are all so awesome!
R: If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be?
S: Definitely Austria! I’m a HUGE Julie Andrews fan and I’ve seen “Sound of Music” about a billion times. That movie was filmed there, so I think it would be a really fun and beautiful place to explore!
R: You’ve talked a bit about how you were bullied in the past. What advice would you give to someone who is being bullied right now?
S: My advice for somebody who’s being bullied is to start with talking to a trusted adult or a close friend about it. Once I started letting out all of my feelings to someone or writing about it, I felt a sense of release. It’s never good to keep everything bottled up which is something that I have learned. Also, know that you’re not alone and that you’re loved.
R: What is the best advice you have ever gotten?
S: I know it’s a little cliché but be yourself!! Don’t worry about anybody’s opinion. just enjoy your life like nobody’s watching.
R: Where can your fans find you on the internet?
S:@sophiemichelle on all social media platforms!! I always love keeping you guys updated on everything going on in my life!
R: Is there anything else you would like to add or say to your fans?
S: I love you all so much!! Thank you for the love and support! You are the reason I get to do what I love everyday! Keep doing you!
